Baba yao Set to vie in Kabete
Nairobi - Former Embakasi MP Ferdinand Waititu has expressed interest in vying for the Kabete parliamentary seat, following the death of former MP George Muchai.
He said he is consulting widely on the matter before making a decision that will be announced soon, The Standard reports.
Waititu, who vied for the governorship seat in Nairobi and lost to Evans Kidero, was born in Nairobi's Kibera slums but he argues that his roots in Kabete constituency allows him run for the seat as a local, although his father was born in Karura, Kiambu County.
So far, five people have insisted that they will seek nomination from the Jubilee Alliance Party to vie for the seat.
The most high profile of the five is former area MP Lewis Nguyai, who said he will try his luck for the seat.
The by-election will be held on 4 May, 2015, after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC announced Saturday.
