Despite Kenyans being termed as one of the most un-romantic people in Africa, here are some few Kenyans who defied this norm and can comfortably fit the bill of being called one of the most romantic people in Kenya:
Remember the Villa Rosa Kempinski night of Diamonds on Valentines day? Yes, the guy who paid Ksh. 2.34 million to book the presidential suite and celebrate valentines with his loved one.
Spencer Okach, an award winning marketer on his Instagram page a receipt payment for the Hotel Kempinski Presidential Suite which is fetching a whooping Ksh.2.34 Million this Valentines, Feb 14 2015. Of course, Ujaluo ni gharama.
Mr. Okach aka Jatelo Spensir describes himself as;

I don’t have to mention the name twice for you to recognize this special lady. Ms. Laura Akunga is the lady who gifted her hubby with a Sh. 10 million car, Toyota Landcruiser VX V8.
She is the MD of Benchmark Solutions Limited. For a woman, in that case, a Kenyan woman to gift her man for simply being her man, it takes a lot of effort but Ms. Laura went beyond measures. On Saturday she presented the car keys to her hubby who was shocked and at the same time overwhelmed by the level of love and romance his wife had shown.
As you sit and wait to be splashed with gifts by your man, there is a woman somewhere gifting her husband.
You don’t have to be a man to display love and affection to your partner. Laura and Mark Muriithi have been married for only one year!
He might not be your favourite politician but Bundalangi, but he has been hitting the headlines with his PDA to his wife, Prisca Mwaro.
He has style, flamboyance and you can call him the most romantic politician in Kenya. Last year he took his wife to Taj Mahal, India for a romantic getaway and had some fun there.
On Mother’s day, Ababu Namwamba took his wife to Iceland where they were captured having quality moments in the scenic iceland shores.
Again on his wife’s birthday, he decided to throw a huge party for her and they are captured kissing.
These and many more other occasions where the MP displays affection towards his wife publicly, are enough proof that this man is ROMANTIC.
Number four comes the nominated ODM MP Isaac Mwaura, who by the way married his spouse last Saturday. Before this year’s Valentine’s, was seen on one knee proposing to his overwhelmed girlfriend during a public event.
Last Saturday the MP threw away the bachelorhood towel when he said I do to his now wife Nelius Rwamba Mukami at the Green Gardens. Among those who attended was the former PM Raila Odinga.
President Uhuru hosted the newly weds in the State House later.
Remember the limousine guy? The one who paid a limousine to get his new born and wife from the hospital? Yes, Eric Macakiage comes number five.
Yes, the Chief Operating Officer at Smoothtel & Data Solutions Ltd lives in a Sh90,000-a-month house in Kileleshwa. Yes, he drives a Toyota Prado and, yes, he spent about Sh3 million on a wedding in 2013. To Mr Macakiage, spending quite a bit on a limousine to take home his days-old first-born son Jayden Cole Otieno from the Nairobi Hospital is not proof that he is a rich man, it’s proof that he is a family man. Do you get the sense of romance here?
While you lament that the cab is too expensive to get your baby mummy from hospital, this man doesn’t feel a pinch when hiring a limo to get his wife and new born.
Remember the guy who proposed to “This is Ess” blogger Sharon Mundia at the peak of Mt. Kenya? What else would you call romantic other that going for a trip with your boo and they propose on top of a mountain.
Sharon had no idea they would be flying to Mount Kenya until when they were at Nanyuki Airstrip, she say the helicopter and Lonina, her boo told her that they would be going to the top and she was all excited with the idea.
Apparently Lonina had everything planned but Sharon had no idea that he would be proposing to her on that very day. On landing, Sharon took her time to explore the nature and wandered off the shore of Lake Michaelson where Lonina joined her.
After a short speech, Lonina went down on one knee and that’s when Sharon realized she was being proposed to. Anyway she said yes.
What a beautiful and sensational proposal, then yo go around saying Kenyans are not romantic. Mind your tongue, sawa?
Aaah! Yes, the Ksh. 15 million pre wedding guy, I almost forgot. While a typical Kenyan is complaining the weddings are expensive, you may reconsider that though.
Jared Otieno has been hitting the headlines for all the expensive reasons! Being a Luo is a calling, this man Jared threw a Ksh. 15 million pre-wedding party that was graced with politicians and other significant figures, and now he is a Sh. 30 million Porsche owner in Kenya.
Call it love yawa!
8. Raila Odinga
While Baba was away, it seems Mama missed him so much. When he came back, Raila was met by his lovely wife Ida Odinga at the airport and they passionately french kissed as a welcome back.
He had been away in Boston for quite some time.
9. Uhuru Kenyatta
What a lovely sight! For a president to display his affection towards his wife, it should make a lot of fuss, but Uhuru Kenyatta did not care about what they say. When his wife, the First Lady, Margret Kenyatta completed the inaugural marathon, the president was there to give her support and he was captured hugging his wife passionately.
Again when the first lady completed the London Marathon, Uhuru was also there and hugged her, congratulating her for her completion.
He is the first Kenyan President to ever display his love to wife publicly.
10. Nameless alias David Mathenge
We can’t forget to add musician Nameless to this list. On mother’s day, he surprised his wife Wahu Kagwi by playing an appreciation video at Village Market. In the video, he told how grateful he was to have Wahu as his wife and mother to his kids.
