Police detectives in Limuru have intensified a man-hunt for five robbers who robbed a motorist at gun-point and stole Sh 500, 000 from him on Friday last week.
According to Limuru OCPD Samuel Obara, patrols in search of the robbers have been increased across Limuru and neighboring areas.
The OCPD says that police will not rest until when the suspects will be nabbed and the stolen money recovered.
He said that the motorist was robbed at gunpoint moments after withdrawing money from an Equity Bank ATM at Ruaka trading center on Friday evening.
He added that the robbers who were in police uniforms trailed the motorist, robbed him and dumped him at a tea plantation opposite the Kiambu Institute for Science and Technology (KIST) along the Kiambu-Ndenderu road.
“It was a well-orchestrated robbery but we can assure you that we will nab the suspects soon,” he told journalists on Tuesday at Tigoni Police station in Limuru.
Mr Obara said that the robbers gave the motorist Sh 3,000 and asked him to collect his car at Rironi the next day.
The OCPD said that they have zeroed on specific intelligence that will see the suspects arrested and prosecuted. He urged residents to volunteer more information that will aid police investigation.
The OCPD at the same time warned that law enforcers will not tolerate acts of crime.
“We are going to crush and eliminate all criminal elements within Limuru,” he said.
There have been concerns of insecurity in some parts of Limuru sub-county with locals and leaders urging the police to streamline security.
During the Mashujaa day celebrations on Thursday last week, newly posted Kiambu Commissioner Wilson Wanyanga vowed to get rid of criminal gangs in the county.
Mr Wanyanga warned that his administration will not entertain criminal gangs.
He appealed to locals to partner with law enforcers as they strive to boost security.
