Peter Kenneth fires shots at rival Sonko, rejects consensus
One of the top contenders in the Nairobi gubernatorial race, Peter Kenneth, has responded to his Jubilee rival, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko’s latest attack targeted at him.
While speaking during the unveiling of his potential running mate on Wednesday, March 22, the former presidential candidate said he will not stoop low to Sonko’s level.
Known for his superb development record when he was the Gatanga Member of Parliament, Kenneth said he will not be dragged into exchanging insults and abuse with the Senator.
”Stay the way you are and let people compare you to other leaders. If we start exchanging abuses here, what will people see?” he wondered.
The former legislator could not understand how Sonko could claim he was popular in the capital while people like him who were born and bred in the county, knew very well its political dynamics.
“How can someone claim to own support in Nairobi and yet some of us were born here and know the dynamics better?” he wondered.
Sonko went berserk on the night of Sunday, March 19, while appearing on a Citizen TV live interview to answer questions regarding his bid for Nairobi Governor seat which has been marred by controversy.
A seemingly drunk Sonko shouted uncontrollably in the studio, he hurled insults at his Jubilee competitor Peter Kenneth and other officials in the Jubilee government. He at some point referred to the light-skinned Kenneth as an “albino” causing outrage on social media for being too insensitive to the disabled.
The Senator accused Interior PS Karanja Kibicho and Jubilee Party vice chairman David Murather of frustrating his efforts to participate in the Jubilee nominations.
Kenneth has at the same rejected consensus, he says all aspirants must run for ticket.
