Why President Uhuru Kenyatta Will Beat Raila Odinga In 2017 Again
If an opinion poll is anything to go by, President Uhuru Kenyatta will rule the country for another term come 2017 – and it will be by an astounding 84% approval by the people.
This will probably make a joke of his biggest contender Raila Odinga if it turns out as has been predicted by  research firm Strategic Africa that has placed the confidence level of Kenyans on the president at 84%.
However, 11.1% of Kenyans surveyed said that they don’t have confidence in the president and 3.7% have no confidence at all.
Corruption in the government, adherence to the rule of law, insecurity and lack of jobs are some of the areas that president Uhuru has been rated lowest on.
His best performance is on health, governance and national unity.
“Most Kenyans are of the view that the one action President Uhuru should take to act decisively on corruption in Kenya is to appoint a credible anti-corruption authority,” says the report released on Wednesday August 12.
The poll was conducted soon after  with 2,004 respondents interviewed across 34 counties in the country.
The opposition led by Raila has been constantly criticising Uhuru’s government especially on how it has tackled corruption and insecurity.
But President Obama told off the opposition when they met him saying that they had an opportunity while previously in the government to change some of the things they were complaining about.
Raila has since declared his bid for the presidency in 2017 and until now, it is not clear how the opposition will handle Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula who belong to Raila’s fold and have also expressed interest in the same seat.
Raila and Kalonzo on the one hand were beaten in a contested election in 2013 by President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto to form the Jubilee government.
If re-elected, he will rule the country for five more years.
