Boy Declined School admission because mother is HIV+
Naramat Acadamy is a private school in Kajiado county that has puzzled many after they declined to admit a 12 year old boy Elijah Zachary Lemaiyan because his HIV status.
Elija lemayan first rose to the lime light after he read a speech that moved world leaders to a standing ovation at the United Nations conference in september last year. His Evelyn Simaloi, revealed that her son had already secured a position in class six at the school but after she disclosed the HIV status of her son the story was changed that the institution did not have a vacancy for 12 year old Elijah.
Well KTN’s Betty Okari decided to lay a trick on the institution’s management in a bid to ascertain whether Evelyn’s allegations were true. Betty posed as a parent and called the school’s head teacher asking whether ‘her son’ would be in a position to secure a position in the institution. Surprisingly betty’s ‘son’ was offered a place in the same class Elijah was offered before they declined to admit him.
Betty and his team went ahead to look for a boy as a new standard six pupil wishing and they successfully found one and proceeded to the school where the young boy sat for the interview similar to that Elijah did and after two days they were granted an admission letter and the fees structure.
Elijah’s mother later went again to the school head teacher to plead with him again for a place but she was told the same old story that the class was full to capacity and her child could not be admitted in the school.
After the required evidence was fully gathered, KTN approached the school administration of which they went ahead to deny the discrimination allegations.Watch video courtesy of KTN
