Former Limuru MP and Senate Aspirant Warns Uhuru May Not Be Re-elected


Former Limuru MP George Nyanja. He has warned President Uhuru Kenyatta that voter apathy in Mt Kenya voters looms if persons charged with corruption are not jailed.
A politician from Mt Kenya region has warned President Uhuru Kenyatta of dire consequences in 2017 elections if he fails to tame corruption.
Former Limuru MP George Nyanja on Tuesday in Limuru told the President that his regime was under voter apathy threat from the people of Mt Kenya region.
Nyanja, who has declared interest in Kiambu Senatorial race, said residents of Central Kenya are tired of inaction by government in handling graft cases and they may not turn up to vote in 2017 if no firm action is taken.
“The public especially those from Mt Kenya region have lost confidence in government’s capability to tame corruption and it is dangerous because it will lead to voter apathy in next year’s elections.”
“What people want to see is decisive action and that means taking to Kamiti the big fish who have been implicated in graft to eat porridge and beans,” he said.
Nyanja said the general feeling on the ground does not augur well for Jubilee if decisive action is not taken by the government in fighting the vice. “Things are not okay. Let us see Kabura going to jail.”
Government, on it part through the office of the Director of Public Prosecution, Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission and the judiciary have promised to work together in ensuring that corruption cases presented before courts are well investigated and will be expedited.
