Why Dennis Itumbi has Sued Jubilee Government
A State House official has moved to court seeking compensation for unlawful arrest over alleged hacking of the International Criminal Court's system.
Dennis Itumbi, who was once arrested over leaked ICC confidential documents, wants the court to stop his future arrest and prosecution over alleged interference with the crimes against humanity charges that faced President Uhuru Kenyatta at The Hague-based court.
Charges against the President were dropped for lack of evidence. In suit papers, Itumbi says then ICC chief prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo reported in 2012 that he was investigating cases of alleged interference with witnesses. Itumbi was arrested in March 2012 by CID officers and detained for four days, suit papers indicate.
He believes ICC did not issue any arrest warrant for him and police proceeded without any authority to raid his residence in Kiambu and confiscated his mobile phone and laptop to access his private information. Itumbi has sued the Attorney General, the Director of Public Prosecutions and Inspector General of Police.-The-Star
