Moran Ready For Malia Obama
A Maasai moran has now offered 500 cows bride price if he is allowed to marry US President Barack Obama’s daughter, Malia.
Jeff ole Kishau, 24, from Narok county hopes to meet the President when he visits Kenya in July to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage.
“I’m offering myself as a potential suitor for Malia Obama because she is very beautiful. I’m not able to sleep at night. I love her very much. I do not know good English but I know I love her,” he said.
Kishau was speaking to the Star during the launch of Eco-Manyatta at Suswa in Narok East constituency on Tuesday. A lawyer, Felix Kiprono, had offered 50 cows price for Malia’s hand.
Kiprono, a student at Oxford University, said his interest in Obama’s daughter began during the US presidential campaign in 2008 when she was just 10 years old. “I have never fallen in love with any minor, I only like the first family.
My Kalenjin customary law is consistent with justice and morality,” he said on his Facebook page. On March 31, a woman asked Kiprono to withdraw the offer, saying she has always been “fascinated” by him.
Ann Kioko, 27, said she has followed him on Twitter and sent him a friend request on Facebook, which he is yet to accept. Kishau, however, dismissed Kiprono as a joker, whose only motive is to gain international attention. “Kiprono is playing jokes with the US President’s daughter because how can you offer only 50 cows to the daughter of the most powerful man in the world? To prove I’m serious, I will give Malia’s father 500 cows or even more. I’m ready to send them to the US or inform of money,” he said. Kishau said will take good care of Malia.
“I’m old enough to have babies but she will know my age once we get married. I will give the family 500 cows in accordance with African tradition and sell all my Maasai land in Suswa, Kedong and Masai Mara Game Reserve just to win her,” he said. “I will be the happiest man in the world if the most powerful man becomes my father-in-law.”
Kishau, an orphan, said he has searched for Malia on Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram and Twitter but all in vain. He said he, therefore, decided to engage his father directly through the media.
“I want to meet Malia but I know Obama has roots from Kenya and according to the Africa culture, it is in order to meet her father and elders to handle the issue,” Kishau said.
He said he has been following Malia’s progress through foreign media and the internet. The moran said he is planning to approach some Maasai elders to accompany him to meet Obama and help in negogiatiating for Malia. He said among the elders he wants in his entourage are former Heritage minister William ole Ntimama and Narok Governor Samuel Tunai.
“These elders will help me in negotiations according to the Maasai customs if we get the chance to see President Obama when he comes to Kenya,” Kishau said. His close friend, Sammy Saruni, says Kishau thinks Malia will understand him better than any other women in the world.
